CAIR LA's Hussam Ayloush 'Worries How Attack On Marines Could Affect Muslim Americans' 'That Makes It A Little Bit Difficult'

July 17, 2015

ANAHEIM, Calif. (KABC) -- Hussam Ayloush condemns the actions of 24-year-old Muhammed Youssef Abdulazeez in Chattanooga, Tennessee Thursday.

Ayloush is the executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in the greater Los Angeles area. CAIR is the nation's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization.

"Like all of my fellow Americans, I'm appalled by this horrific act," Ayloush said.

He offers his prayers to the families of the four Marines killed and worries about how this could affect Muslim Americans.

"People who don't know any better would like to blame the whole community for the act of a few and that makes it a little bit difficult," Ayloush said.

U.S. officials said they are investigating the incident as an act of domestic terrorism.

Ayloush says American Muslim leaders continue to educate their community to stand against any terrorist views or actions.
