Secular Christian Jihad - Scott Alexander Of The CTU Whitewashes Islamist Agression

May 31, 2015

May 31, 2015 – San Francisco, CA – PipeLineNews.org – The story itself, isn't new. Since 9/11 Muslim Brotherhood front groups and individuals have made a concerted [and somewhat successful] effort to convince the citizens of the United States - despite the fact that the September attacks which claimed nearly 3,000 lives were undertaken exclusively by 19 Muslim conspirators - that Islam is the aggrieved party in this relationship.

The upshot of this has seen a massive realignment of the legacy media so that rather than "slander" Islam by telling the truth about its historically predatory nature and current agenda of mass butchery, most news rooms now self-censor, gleefully becoming dhimmis in the process.

Rather than "speaking truth to power," today's jounos have beaten their word processors into swords and girded their loins in the armor of a sycophantic jihadism, self-enrolling as agents of Shari'a enforcement. This is a practice whereby no action may be taken which might potentially "insult" Mohammed or worse, rile the ever irritable Muslim population of the world.

To their great discredit, American churches have been at the forefront of enabling this suicidal blindness, engaging in what they call "faith sharing," or more properly, a one-way conversation in which Islam is elevated and Christianity and Judaism are soiled.

This is all part of the great culture war in which the West has been embroiled for over 100 years, the outcome of which appears to be of little concern among our intellectual, political and religious leaders. There is nothing really subtle about the process and when claims are made as to the desirability of "sharing" with Islamic cultures, it usually doesn't take much effort to debunk them.

For example, the Deseret News Service, recently published a piece [Sarah Mikati, Interfaith groups that prove religious harmony is possible ] in which it is claimed that:

"And lastly, nation[sic] and international interfaith efforts to combat Islamophobia have been carried out by multiple groups, such as the Islamic Society of North America's Office for Interfaith and Community Alliances. The organization counters misconceptions and breaks down barriers through interfaith dialogue, social work with other religious groups and partnering with other organizations and coalitions…"

What this apparently terminally ignorant journo fails to mention, assuming Ms. Mikati is even aware of the fact, is that the Islamic Society of North America, ISNA, has been identified by the U.S. Department of Justice as having ties with the Arabic terrorist group [created by the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood] HAMAS.

"'The government has produced ample evidence to establish the associations of CAIR, ISNA, NAIT, with NAIT, the Islamic Association for Palestine, and with Hamas," U.S. District Court Judge Jorge Solis said in the July 1, 2009, ruling'" [source, The Investigative Project, Federal Dist. Court Filing]

It's difficult to imagine the theological contortions necessary to justify to partnering with organizations devoted to destroying the West through a process the Muslim Brotherhood calls civilization jihad.

"Understanding the role of the Muslim Brotherhood in North America: The process of settlement is a ‘Civilization-Jihadist Process' with all the word means. The Ikhwan must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and "sabotaging" its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all other religions." [source, General Strategic Goal for the Group in North America]

Unfortunately it's not simply the media which is infected with this auto-immune disease. It's rampant in higher education, even within high visibility Christian teaching institutions such as the Catholic Theological Union [CTU].

This Chicago based university has, for nearly a half-century, "been educating and preparing men and women to serve God's people throughout the world. Founded in 1968 in the spirit and vision of the Second Vatican Council, CTU has grown to be one of the largest Roman Catholic graduate schools of theology and ministry in the United States." [source, CTU]

At CTU's Bernardin Center, "faith sharing" with Muslims is highly encouraged within a unit called the Catholic Muslim Studies Program.

"The Catholic Muslim Studies Program sponsors study, publication, dialogue, and cultural events in an effort to achieve these goals: To educate members of the church—especially leaders and teachers—so that they can share a genuine appreciation and understanding of Islam with other Christians. To educate men and women whom the Muslim community can respect and trust as worthy dialogue partners and true friends. To facilitate learning about Islam and Muslim peoples by creating contexts in which Muslims can represent themselves to others." [source, CTU's Bernardin Center]

This program is run by Dr. Scott Alexander who also serves on the Bernardin Center's Advisory Board along with "Sayyid Syeed, Secretary General, Islamic Society of North America."

"Sayyid M. Syeed resumed responsibilities as National Director of ISNA's Office of Interfaith and Community Alliances, in Washington, DC, from March 2006." [source, ISNA, Sayyid M. Syeed]

As mentioned above, ISNA is an organization which has been linked to the terrorist group HAMAS, a fact which seems lost on the estimable Dr. Alexander.

Another member of this board is Safaa Zarzour, J.D., Board President, CAIR Chicago. In the heretofore cited ruling, Judge Solis also found CAIR to be associated with HAMAS.

For further edification we refer the reader to a recent interview which an organization calling itself Patheos conducted with Dr. Alexander, during which he dispensed his standard line of apologetic Marxist tinged, Islamist horse shit:

"Q. We hear a lot about jihad in mass media coverage of Islam. What exactly is jihad?

A. The Qur'anic meaning of this term is the "struggle [to live righteously]." The Qur'an only permits violence insofar as it qualifies as a necessary component of the struggle for righteousness and justice. In fact, I would maintain that this is the underlying logic for why this broad term for "struggle" (which has at its core the struggle to fast, pray, and give alms) becomes synonymous in Islamic jurisprudence with what the Christian tradition refers to as "just war" theory…" [source, Patheos interview with Dr. Scott Alexander]

So ridiculous is Alexander's statement regarding the "true" nature of jihad and its alleged similarity to St. Thomas Aquinas' "just war theory," that if it were delivered to a knowledgeable audience he would be laughed off the stage.

Where this level of ignorance and double-speak might be understandable in a journo without much experience in these matters, when proffered by directors of academic programs at major religious teaching institutions, it's a deadly combination; academic and religious malpractice writ large.
