ZAKA reported Friday morning that a hit-and-run terror attack occurred at about 10:00 a.m. near the Border Patrol's base in the Shimon HaTzadik neighborhood in Jerusalem.

A police statement clarified that the Arab terrorist attack was conducted in a private car that approached the base from Zaks Junction before going up on the sidewalk and running over five people, of whom four were from the security forces.

The suspect continued driving but was shot by forces stationed at the gate of the base, at which point he got out of the car with a knife apparently in his hand.

He was shot by officers and seriously wounded, after which he was evacuated to the hospital for medical treatment.

"A young man rammed his car (into pedestrians), and then got out and tried to stab people" before being shot and wounded by an armed security guard, police spokeswoman Luba Samri said in a statement.

"Four people were injured," she added. Three policewomen were among the injured and listed in mild to moderate condition. The terrorist is listed in serious condition and is being treated at Hadassah Ein Kerem medical center.

Nahum Bernstein, deputy head of the Jerusalem branch of United Hatzalah, told Arutz Sheva about the incident minutes after report surfaced.

"When I arrived I came across two scenes of incidents: a motorcyclist who hit a truck which continued driving, and four other casualties from an incident in which a man was hit by a car and three women apparently stabbed at the entrance to the Border Police base," he said. "I, along with other volunteers, gave first aid to the injured, and large squads of police are in the area investigating the incident at the scene."

Hatzalah volunteer Dr. Aryeh Jaffe added, "United Hatzalah and all security and rescue personnel are unfortunately too well experienced in responding to these incidents, but this is in fact what helps save lives."

Walla! News is listing the exact location of the incident as the intersection between Levi Eshkol and Bar-Lev, but this has not been confirmed.

It also states that the perpetrator was a resident of one of the Arab neighborhoods of Jerusalem.

The attack was carried out Friday as Jerusalem celebrates the Purim holiday, and as the streets are filled with children in costume.

Arab Terrorist Drives Car Into Crowd In Israel, Injures 5 In Purim Attack

March 6, 2015 – San Francisco, CA – – As the Jerusalem Post is reporting, "The east Jerusalem terrorist who rammed his car into a crowd of Border Policewomen on Shimon Hatzadik Street in the capital on Friday has been identified by authorities as Mohammed Mahmoud Abdel Razek Salaima…" [source, Purim Attack: Shin Bet interrogates family of east Jerusalem terrorist , JPost]

The incident occurred during the celebration of Purim, a time set aside for observing Israel's deliverance from the hands of a despotic Persian official.

On Friday morning, the suspect, Mohammed Mahmoud Abdel Razek Salaima, drove his car into a group of people who were standing at a light rail station. He then exited the vehicle with a knife whereupon he was shot by security personnel.

Salaima is currently in critical condition in a local hospital.

The suspect's family is undergoing interrogation about the matter to see what, if any, connections the terrorist has with known jihadist groups.

Israeli security officials are concerned that today's violence might signal the beginning of another series of deadly vehicular attacks such as those which took place last October and November.

As we noted at the time:

"In the second such attack in less than two weeks, today a "Palestinian" Islamic jihadist killed at least one person and injured more than a dozen others as he drove a car into a train platform in East Jerusalem which was clogged with commuters.

In mid October a similar vehicle assault left two dead, one of which was a baby girl. Fox News is reporting that HAMAS, the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist entity sworn to genocide against the Jews, has expressed support for this indiscriminate act of terrorism against civilians.

"We praise this heroic operation," said Hamas official Fawzi Barhoum. "We call for more such ... operations." [source, One Dead After Car Rams Jerusalem Train Platform In Terrorist Attack , Fox News]…" [source, Another Day, Another Terrorist Car Attack In Jerusalem ,]

As of this writing none of the Arab terror organizations in the region have taken credit for the attack.

A gag order was lifted on Monday regarding the details of Mohammed Salaimeh, a 22-year-old Arab resident of the Ras al-Amud neighborhood of Jerusalem, who is the terrorist behind the car terror attack on female Border Patrol officers in Jerusalem ten days ago.

On March 6 at 9:50 a.m., Salaimeh drove in his car on Highway 1 in Jerusalem heading southwards, according to the indictment list. When he arrived at the Border Patrol headquarters in the Shimon Hatzadik neighborhood, he saw the officers standing in a crosswalk, at which point he backed up, slammed on the gas and ran over the officers together with a bicyclist.

A Border Patrol officer who was manning the base's entrance at the time of the attack together with another security guard saw the attack and opened fire at Salaimeh, damaging his car and bringing it to a halt.

Salaimeh then exited the vehicle while holding an axe in his hand, at which point the officer and security guard again fired at him, wounding the terrorist.

A total of six Border Patrol officers were wounded at different levels of severity due to the attack, along with the bicyclist who happened to be on the scene.

Under investigation the terrorist admitted to conducting the attack, adding that during the week prior to it he was planning an attack against Jews, and went to the Old City where he bought an axe which he stored in his car.

A day before the attack Salaimeh finalized his intentions to attack, and at 8 a.m. on the morning of the attack he left his house, driving around looking for Jewish victims.

First Salaimeh drove on Highway 1, from which he transferred to Begin Highway before returning to Highway 1. When he arrived at the base, he saw the officers and decided to attack them.

On Monday morning Salaimeh's detainment was extended, after the prosecutor clarified she intends to submit an indictment against him.
