Foreign born residents of Amsterdam are on the average less capable of taking care of themselves and economically independent then other diverse groups in the city. According to NRC it appears from the Scorecard Citzenship and Diversity 2009 - 2011, which was put together by the Research Bureau and Statistic of the muncipality of Amsterdam.
The research which preceded the report was presented Thursday in De Balie. It is the first time that Amsterdam has done comparative research of diverse groups such as non Western foreign born women and youth.
Besides a decreased ability to help themselves and less economic independence the foreign born residents are also less tolerant, have less faith in democracy and often do much less for others in the city.
A spokesperson of lawmaker Andree van Es declared: 'Through this research we know where we have to apply ourselves more: education and work'.

Allochtone Amsterdammer minder tolerant en economisch zelfstandig
Allochtone inwoners van Amsterdam zijn gemiddeld minder zelfredzaam en minder economisch zelfstandig dan andere diverse groepen in de hoofdstad. Volgens NRC blijkt dat uit de Scorekaart Burgerschap en Diversiteit 2009-2011, opgesteld door het Bureau Onderzoek en Statistiek van de gemeente Amsterdam.
Het onderzoek dat aan het rapport voorafging, wordt donderdagavond gepresenteerd in De Balie. Het is voor het eerst dat Amsterdam vergelijkend onderzoek liet doen naar diverse groepen als niet-westerse allochtonen, vrouwen en jongeren.
Behalve een verminderde zelfredzaamheid en minder economische zelfstandigheid zijn allochtone inwoners ook minder tolerant, hebben ze minder vertrouwen in de democratie en zetten ze zich minder vaak in voor anderen en de stad.
Een woordvoerder van wethouder Andrée van Es laat weten: 'Door dit onderzoek weten we waar we nog meer op in moeten zetten: opleiding en werk.'
