Arab March To Jerusalem Planned In Cairo

‘Global March to Jerusalem' planned for early June. By Maayana Miskin First Publish: 5/3/2013, 2:13 AM

Arab organizations in Israel and neighboring countries are planning a "Global March to Jerusalem" for early June. Arabs in Judea and Samaria (Shomron) will attempt to reach Jerusalem "or to the nearest point to it" that they can reach.

Organizers met Tuesday in Cairo to arrange the June 7 events.

The organizing committee picked a new chief coordinator – Rada Fahmi of the Muslim Brotherhood, a representative who sits on Egypt's People's Assembly.

The planned march will see some marchers heading for Jerusalem while others aim for Israel's separation barrier in Judea and Samaria, for the Israel-Jordan border or the Israel-Lebanon border.

A Global March to Jerusalem was planned last year as well. Counter-terror experts found that Iran was backing the event.

The march drew only a few thousand people, far from the two million supporters organizers had hoped for.

The Palestinian Authority, with the backing of the Arab world, insists that all neighborhoods of Jerusalem that were conquered by Jordan in 1948 and retaken by Israel in the Six Day War 19 years later, are rightfully Arab and should become the capital of a new Arab state. The PA views Jewish residency in those parts of the city as an attempt to "Judaize Jerusalem."
