The relatives of Salam al-Zaghal, the terrorist who murdered a young Israeli father-of-five in Samaria (Shomron) on Tuesday, say they are proud of him.

"This was his destiny, and we are proud," his father, Assad al-Zaghal, told Channel 10 news.

"He did his duty toward the Palestinians who live under the aggression of the army and settlers," he added.

On Tuesday, just hours after the killing, Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah party published a statement terming Al-Zaghal a "hero."

MK Ophir Akunis (Likud) later insisted that the PA condemn the attack, and warned that its failure to do so was a "clear statement of intent."

Israeli-Arab Member of Knesset Jamal Zahalka has also refused to condemn the attack.

Tzofia Borovsky, the widow of the victim of the stabbing attack, said Thursday that the terrorist who stabbed her husband "should have been killed on the spot." The murder could have been prevented if there had been a security barrier at the site, she said.
