UK: Bombing Failed because Terrorists Were Late

Terrorists prepared bombs and guns for attack on rally, but showed up late. They were caught on the way home. By Maayana Miskin First Publish: 5/1/2013, 2:01

Six British Muslim men ages 22-28 have pleaded guilty to plotting a terrorist attack on a rally held by the right-wing English Defense League, British media outlets report.

Five of the six men took a bomb packed with shrapnel and other weapons to the rally. They had written a letter explaining their motives.

The message read, "This is a message to the kafir (non-believer) female devil and self-proclaimed Queen Elizabeth and her accursed jubilee, fooling a nation of blind sheep to your self-proclaimed royalty and majesty… Today is a day of retaliation for your blasphemy of Allah and his Messenger Muhammad. We love death more than you love life."

It concluded, "What we did today was a direct retaliation of your insulting of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and also in retaliation of your crusade against Islam/Muslims on a global scale. It is of the greatest honour for us to do what we did."

Despite all of their preparations, the terrorists failed to carry out their plot due to a miscalculation in timing. The five would-be attackers showed up at 4 p.m., while the EDL rally they had hoped to bomb had ended at 2 p.m.

On their way home they were pulled over for driving in a car with no insurance. The car was impounded, and later searched, leading officers to discover the plot.
