The truth has a nasty habit of catching up with those who deny reality, so on the 15th, a "mass casualty" terrorist attack came to the cradle of the American Revolution, Boston.

How surprising, the bombers are Muslims...and hail from Islamic terror central in Russia's North Caucuses, Chechnya.

Re Chechnya, a bit of history for the stooge scribes in the MSM, especially the NY Times and the boobs who man the desks at AP.

"On September 1, 2004, a group of Chechen terrorists took hostage and two days later murdered at least 335 schoolchildren and parents in Beslan, a town in the Russian republic of North Ossetia. The atrocity focused world attention on Chechnya. The Russian government used the event to reiterate its arguments that Chechen terrorists and foreign jihadists supporting them have ideological, financial, and operational ties with Islamist terrorist organizations such as Al-Qaeda. Although President Vladimir Putin and top Russian security officials provided evidence of links between Chechen fighters and Al-Qaeda, European politicians and mainstream Western journalists focused instead upon the Russian army's brutality and dismissed Putin's claims as an attempt to gain sympathy in the West and deflect criticism of Russia's handling of a nationalist insurgency..."

Enough said, the Muslim terrorists in that godforsaken country are driven by the ideology of political Islam which is, in turn, justified by Qur'anic scripture. This is not some off-the-cuff remark by someone who dabbles in the meaning of Islam's holiest of texts, no, it is taken directly from the lips of jihad's major practitioners and theorists such as Ayman al-Zawahiri [please refer to Exoneration, his 2008 treatise on jihad] who relied upon a fatwa issued by Nasir al-Fah, then Saudi Arabia's chief cleric, which justified the use of WMDs as a legitimate form of jihad. This lends credence to the belief that if given access to nuclear weapons that they would then be used against Western targets as part of a holy war to establish the caliphate.

Thus, as interpreted by far too many Muslims, taken literally the Qur'an is a revolutionary work meant to inspire and justify the imposition of Islam, at the point of a sword if need be, on the non-Muslim world.

Let's conduct a thought experiment.

What if on the 15th, instead of high explosive devices, a chemical, biological or radiological weapon was employed, perhaps a small suitcase or tactical nuke?

Please note: a typical tactical nuke might have the explosive power of 5-10 kilotons, 5-10 thousand tons of TNT...a baby compared to strategic nukes but far larger than any single convention high explosive weapon]
What would have been the reaction?

Shock, fear and then...pandemonium.

With 9/11 in perspective most people would immediately grasp that a nuke or CBW attack would represent a sea-change, an escalation several orders of magnitude beyond the carnage of the World Trade Center being destroyed. [the economic cost of the 9/11 attacks is estimated to have been between 1.5 a 2 trillion dollars, a nuke or cbw attack would cause incalculably more financial hardship].

This would be a new and terrible reality, not simply because of the immediate carnage that such a device would cause but also because the very image of a "mushroom cloud" invokes a nightmare scenario, of cities going dark and glowing without warning or explanation.

In an instant we would all become the hunted and the nation would never be the same again.

Martial law would be invoked immediately as a necessary precaution because despite its outward robust appearance [even in the midst of a 6 year old recession], this society is highly technologically advanced, but...the appearance of order and control is razor thin...pierce it deeply enough and you are plunged back into the jungle, huddling against the cold with only a sharpened stick for defense.

Those who do not know or comprehend this would in very short order grasp the severity of the new reality. If previous natural disasters can be used as a template we know that grocery store shelves across the nation would be empty in less than 24 hrs.

The same would hold true for gas stations...pumped dry in hours.

Panic, sheer flop-sweat panic would be the order of the day and this emotion would ripple and ultimately roar from coast to coast as the rumor mill started.

Question - How many policemen does your city employ?

The [very low crime] mid-size San Francisco Bay Area city where I reside has less than 50 officers to police about 15 square miles, a heavy responsibility and of course all of these officers can't be on the street simultaneously. Hence there is no way to maintain order without the consent of most of those in the community.

Absent that and you have an escalating pattern of increasing unruliness.

This will happen in many if not most communities, panic causes people to do commit rash acts.

Soon the states might be forced to call out the National Guard to attempt to quell trouble in hot spots, especially the big cities where a sense of rage has been stoked by radical Democrats for decades.

But it's too late, things will escalate rapidly and it will get very ugly.

Ok now Boston resident how do you protect your family, because now YOU - not some city paid employee in blue with a badge and a sidearm - are both the first and last point of defense.

Again, what do you do?

Break out the steak knives?

Please keep in mind that before this hypothetical attack, most of you claimed to abhor firearms and especially firearms which are effective for home defense. This feeling is shared by much of the Northeast voting public.

But that was then, this is now and you feverishly break out grandpa's almost antique revolver which looks so weathered and abused it might as well be a club. Inconveniently, gramps failed to include a box or two of functional ammunition...wasn't that thoughtless of him?

Now Mr. and Mrs. Boston, what do YOU do when strangers start showing up on your doorstep or in your backyard, demanding God knows what?

Are you planning on reasoning with some lout who too is scared of what seems to be going down? Will you refuse him when he asks for your canned goods, will you still refuse when he pulls a Beretta 92 and points it at your belly?

Thought not, you and your family will be lucky indeed if your canned veggies will satiate him...remember panic tends to brutalize people's sensibilities, they become so self-centric that they lose all perspective - and these are your normal type citizens, not the outcasts, misfits, crazies and sociopaths who might just be around the corner.

Hey kids what time is it?

Well boys and girls it's Zombietime!

Ok we will pose the question again: What the hell will you do when u look down into the frightened eyes of your daughter and wife as they realize that you [all of 5' 8" tall, 180 flabby pounds in weight and totally out of shape] have no way of defending them?

You and your family are now nothing more than meat for the taking.

Boston boy, will your belief in non-violence and rejection of the use of force still be in effect or would you do anything to get your hands on an AR and a thousand rounds of 5.56 NATO ammo?

Ahhh...but the ARs will be gone, purchased and stored away many years ago by people who understood that the beauty of this society is only a veneer papering over what is often the dark nature of man.

Mr. Bean town, we truly wish you luck but we don't feel much compassion...because you got exactly what you wanted - to be left defenseless in a world where security is a chimera.

Oh...so NOW you get the picture...too friggin' bad, the hysteria that you and your ilk whipped up has come back to bite you in the ass, the firearms have disappeared from the shelves, ditto ammunition of just about any type.

Sorry dude, no guns for you...life sucks when you really screw up.

Hint...at that point you might consider making amends with the NRA member around the corner, you know the one you referred to as a "right wing lunatic," the one who has the "Stand and Fight" bumper sticker on his pickup and the "Defended by Smith and Wesson" placard on his front door ...you just might find he is far more reasonable and compassionate than you previously realized.

Note: the fact that the above is a worst case scenario is for effect, it does in no way weaken the central argument at all.

Think about it, two smallish homemade bombs killed less than 10 people and injured probably about 200 more, chump change really such as these things could have gone. Yet though the attack was relatively minor an entire metropolitan area was under lockdown for an extended period of time. For days the perps were on the loose and, Mr. and Mrs. Boston, the threat would have been exactly the same...two heavily armed Muslim fanatics roaming your countryside.

You know damn well that you couldn't have protected your family even under such a minimal threat.

And this holds true for any major natural disaster. The police are not bound to protect you. Victims can't sue police departments for negligence in allowing senseless violence to occur.

That's your job, now man-up, grow a pair and above all get prepared.
