Bin Laden's "Envoy" To Europe Abu Qatada Released On Bail After Thwarting Government Deportation Orders Again

The radical cleric Abu Qatada is a free man again after an appeals commission criticised the Home Secretary for wrongly refusing to revoke his deportation order.

In yet another embarrassing twist for the Government in the decade-long debacle, Theresa May was forced to stand up in the Commons and defend accusations of a "catalogue of confusion and mistakes".

Seven months after Mrs May insisted that Qatada would soon be on a plane to Jordan and "out of our country for good", she responded to news that the Special Immigration Appeals Commission (Siac) had ordered his release by arguing that the "government strongly disagrees with this ruling".

The 52-year-old, once described as Osama bin Laden's right hand man in Europe is expected to be released from Long Lartin high security prison tomorrow.
