Father And Baby Son Murdered By Arab Rock Throwers

September 25, 2011

Bereaved Grandfather, Father-in-Law asks Government: Avenge

"He was not tired, he always drives at 60-70 kph, extremely carefully," says Rav Meir Peretz, whose son-in-law and grandson were murdered.

Rav Meir Peretz, father in law and grandfather of murder victims Asher and Yehonatan Palmer, stood at the spot where they had been killed and demanded that the government avenge them.

He told HebronVideo: "They see a baby, a baby stroller, they throw a rock and they know that this rock will hit and cause the driver to lose control and both will die. They do this, and they do it one day, two days, three..."

"To my deep sorrow I am standing in a place where my grandson was murdered, one year old, and my son in law, not yet 25 years old. He was supposed to be with us for Shabbat, in Jerusalem. My daughter worked in Shaarei Tzedek Hospital, waited for him to come. And he was not tired, he always drives at 60-70 km/h [around 40 mph - Ed.], extremely carefully, and on the road, accursed Arabs threw rocks at him, he lost control and thus he was murdered in this place, with a rock."

"First, I ask G-d, [and] the Israeli government to avenge the murder of a father and son. Secondly, that the acts of murder by rocks, by those Arabs, may their name be blotted out, there needs to be a protest. I am trying to shout and protest – that no more blood be spilled."

The grassroots Judea Residents' Council has revealed that a CT scan conducted on Asher Palmer, who was murdered with his baby son Yehonatan on Friday, as well as an autopsy conducted in the Abu Kabir forensic lab, both confirm that a rock hit his face and caused fractures in the front of his skull.

Boaz Haetzni, head of the Council and an IDF reserve lieutenant colonel, reacted emotionally on Sunday: "We feel like we have been betrayed. It is we who are persecuted – they destroy our homes, and they call these murderers "partners" [in security coordination, ed.]... We feel betrayed and deceived..."

"On the one hand, the main emphasis in Central Command policy is zero casualties among the Arab marauders. On the other hand they prevent IDF soldiers from acting with determination against the rock and boulder throwers along the roads even though it is clear that these are not innocent games – and in the end they tried to whitewash and deceive the public..."

"We demand that the IDF Chief of Staff and the Commissioner of Police order a thorough review of the way the IDF Spokesman and the Judea and Samaria Spokeswoman conduct themselves. They cause grave harm to security and to the reliability of the IDF and Israel Police."

Malachi Levinger, Hevron Regional Council Head, demanded that the security forces put an end to the rock throwing, an affront to the sovereignty of the state of Israel. He reminded them that they are responsible for the safety of the tens of thousands of Jews who come to Hevron during the holiday period.

Sources in the Hevron Regional Council expressed the feeling that the facts were concealed so that there would be no disturbances while Prime Minister Netanyahu was in the United States, an unfortunate decision which they said caused the Palmer family and friends unnecessary anguish in the midst of grief at the tragedy.

Asher Palmer and Son Declared Victims of Terror

Almost a week after they were murdered by terrorists, the Defense Ministry recognizes Asher Palmer and his son Yonatan as victims of terror. By Elad Benari, Canada First Publish: 9/28/2011, 6:17 PM

The Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday that it recognizes Asher Palmer and his son Yonatan, who were murdered by terrorists last Friday, as victims of terror.

At first, it was reported that the two were killed in a car accident caused by human error and not by a terror attack. This determination was made despite evidence that at first failed, for unknown reasons, to convince police that terrorists may have been involved: a hole in the front windshield of the car, a massive rock found in the front seat with human blood on it, a tear in fabric of the steeling wheel cover and dust indicating a blow from the rock, and damage to Asher Palmer's face suggesting an impact unrelated to the crash.

An autopsy and a CT scan of Asher Palmer's face showed evidence of facial fractures caused by a rock, causing authorities to determine that the accident was a terror attack.

Yet even after it was determined that the incident was a terror attack, the Palmers were not recognized as terror victims and did not receive the support normally given to those bereaved by terror.

Normally, social welfare workers contact the relatives of those slain by terrorists and offer assistance with the funeral and the shiva, the traditional seven-day mourning period. Relatives are immediately given an aid package, and professionals form ties with the family to assist them in surviving their loss.

The apparent cover-up by police of the fact that the incident was a terror attack was met with outrage by Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria. Sources in the Hevron Regional Council expressed the feeling that the facts were concealed so that there would be no disturbances while Prime Minister Netanyahu was in the United States.
