Muslim Brotherhood Leader Al-Qaradawi Returns To Cairo

February 20, 2011

February 20 2011- Militant Islam Monitor-Radical cleric Yusuf Al – Qaradawi has returned to Cairo after having been banned from entering Egypt since 1961. The Muslim Brotherhood leader has also been barred from entering the United States. He is notorious for his hatred of Jews, homosexuals and woman and his sanctioning of suicide bombings and female genital mutilation.

In 2009 speech Al- Qaradawi has said that he wanted to die as a martyr killing Jews.

"To conclude my speech, I'd like to say that the only thing I hope for is that as my life approaches its end, Allah will give me an opportunity to go to the land of Jihad and resistance, even if in a wheelchair.

"I will shoot Allah's enemies, the Jews, and they will throw a bomb at me, and thus, I will seal my life with martyrdom. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. Allah's mercy and blessings upon you."

He addressed a crowd of over 1 million in Cairo. In his televised speech he told Arab countries "Don't fight history" "You can't delay the day when it starts".

Al Qaradawi's return to Cairo is seen as an ominous sign of the popularity of the Muslim Brotherhood and fueled concerns that the group will play a prominent role in a new Egyptian government.

He is also associated with a Muslim Brotherhood entity in the United States, the Muslim American Society (MAS) and was on the board of trustees of it's Islamic American University.

At a 1995 youth conference in the United States Al- Qaradawi told his followers:

"What remains, then, is to conquer Rome…This means that Islam will come back to Europe for the third time, after it was expelled from it twice... Conquest through Da'wa (proselytizing) – that is what we hope for. We will conquer Europe, we will conquer America".
