October 13, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - The 10/12 edition of the Council on American Islamic Relations email newsletter reports that a mosque in Florence, SC has allegedly been attacked by an unidentified party who used bacon as his weapon of choice, "...a prominent national Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization today called on the FBI to investigate a possible bias motive for the defacement of a South Carolina mosque with bacon, a food prohibited to Muslims." Though initially most people might simply dismiss the matter as another case of people having too much time on their hands, upon further investigation the back story here is quite serious.

The issue which the outrageous nature this Looney-Tune non-event masks, neatly encapsulates what many now understand to be among the most critical threats facing the United States - efforts by Islamists to make Western societies Shari'a compliant. In this case, equating even the most sophomoric supposed slights against Muslims with a serious violation of Shari'a, insulting Islam or its prophet.

It is this very thought process, that simply speaking ill of Islam is tantamount to insulting it, that has led to the invidious concept of thought or hate crime statutes.

While this process has played out most expansively in Europe, with numerous individuals facing both criminal as well as civil prosecution, this society is increasingly allowing itself to fall victim to that model.

The goal of the stealth jihadist [non violent devotees of political Islam] domestically is clear, to equate anything even vaguely critical of Islam as an act of Islamophobic hate, and criminalize such an offense. This does two things, it gives our adversaries the power to determine what constitutes an offense and it incorporates the enforcement of Islamic law into the woof and weave of this culture.

It is a measure of the extremist nature of the Council on American Islamic Relations, CAIR, that the organization would allege that leaving a few strips of bacon on the sidewalk adjacent a mosque would rise to the level where local police would become involved. Yet this appears to be the case, calls to the Florence, SC police department have so far been unreturned.

To suggest that such an incident, assuming it did happen in the first place, should command the attention of the FBI is absurd but is fully in keeping with a key directive which Islamist organizations follow, that they incessantly beat the bushes in hopes of ginning up sympathy which might be used to override the genuine [but under the radar] threat posed by proponents of making the U.S. Shari'a compliant.

What local law enforcement [not to mention the FBI] must apparently be reminded of when dealing with this and similar kerfluffles is that this is the West, not some Middle Eastern theocratic dictatorship which broaches no dissent. If Christians are expected to endure crucifixes submersed in jars of urine being represented as art, then Muslim Americans had better develop an appreciation for the attributes of the society in which they live and don thicker skins.

Protest and vociferous political debate are vital components of a free and pluralistic democratic society. Those not comfortable with robust discussion and even heated disagreement demonstrate a lack of dedication to the basic mechanism that preserves liberty.

There are a myriad of societies outside the West where these norms are not respected and if enduring "bacon attacks" is somehow unacceptable to the likes of CAIR, there are regular one way flights out of this country to the hell holes of the world which can be taken advantage of for a nominal expenditure.
