AAH: GROUND ZERO MOSQUE SHOULD BE DEEMED THREAT TO NEW YORK AND U.S.

GOVERNMENT SHOULD STEP IN AND STOP MOSQUE PROJECT

(New York, NY) Americans Against Hate (AAH), the anti-bigotry, terrorism watchdog group, is calling the Islamic center that is being built at Ground Zero in New York a threat to the city and a threat to the nation. AAH says that the federal government needs to step in and shut the project down.

The imam of the project Feisal Abdul Rauf, who has refused to call Hamas a terrorist organization, is involved heavily in Perdana, the group that financed the terrorist flotilla that was attempting to break Israel's Gaza blockade this past May. The flotilla was led by Insani Yardem Vakfi (IHH), an organization which has significant ties to Hamas, both financial and otherwise.

As well, IHH has known ties to al-Qaeda and was involved with the Millennium terrorist plot to detonate a bomb at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

AAH believes that all of the above warrants government action in cancelling the ground zero mosque project and investigating those involved with it.

AAH Chairman Joe Kaufman states, "It is inexcusable, given the background of Feisal Abdul Rauf, that the government would stand by and allow this man to build a center at Ground Zero or anywhere on American soil. This project should be considered a matter of homeland security and should be shut down as such."

Joe Kaufman is available for interview. E-mail: [email protected].
