August 4, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Abdullah Khadr was made a free man today by Toronto Superior Court Justice Christopher Speyer. In doing so Speyer quashed a long-standing effort by the United States to extradite Khadr so that he might have been tried on terrorism charges.
In a U.S. District Court, District of Massachusetts February 7, 2006 court filing, Khadr was charged with, conspiracy to murder U.S. nationals outside the United States, conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction, possession of a destructive device in furtherance of a crime of violence and conspiracy to possess a destructive device in furtherance of a crime of violence.
"...from in or about May, 2003, through in or about October, 2003, Khadr purchased Ak047 ammunition (for use in Russian machine guns) rocket propelled grenades, rockets and 82mm and 120 mm mortar rounds. Khadr is the son of al-Qaeda money-man Ahmed Said Khadr, who was killed in 2003 by Pakistani forces, after which the Khadr family was allowed to repatriate to Canada.
