AG Holder Honored by Saudi Funded Group - American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Commitee Delivers Keynote Address

June 8, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - On June 4, Attorney General Eric Holder was the keynote speaker at the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee's [ADC] 30th annual convention where he received both the Excellency in Advocacy Award and Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award. He thanked them for the "tremendous honor." The ADC is heavily funded by Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, whose offer of $10 million dollars to the 9/11 victims fund was rejected by then New York mayor Rudy Giuliani after the prince implied that America had provoked the attacks, suggesting that it reexamine its policy in the Middle East. Bin Talal has also held telethons to raise money for the families of suicide bombers.

"Prince Alwaleed bin Talal announced he was donating $6 million to help the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) to buy its own office building, Arab News reported today. The announcement was made at the ADC's gala dinner Sunday, which was attended by nearly 2,000 Arab-Americans from throughout the United States." Rather than partnering with law enforcement as Holder asserted in his speech, the ADC has sued the DHS and other governmental agencies which are engaged in prosecuting the war on terror.

"Today, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its component U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. The lawsuit, which ADC filed under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), seeks information that would either validate or dispel the widespread perception that DHS and ICE have been misusing information from the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System (NSEERS) to impermissibly target, or "profile," Arab-Americans and Muslims for general law enforcement purposes." In his speech Holder emphasized the fact that the convention was being held on the one year anniversary of Obama's deservedly maligned dhimmi Cairo speech.

"It's a special honor to be part of this anniversary and to continue one of our nation's most important conversations – the crucial, ongoing dialogue between law enforcement and members of the Arab-American community...I would have been happy to speak to you any day of the year, but I admit that I'm especially pleased to have been scheduled today – June 4th. Exactly one year ago, in Cairo, Egypt, President Obama addressed the Arab and Muslim world in a landmark speech that, in elegant and heartfelt terms, captured the importance of our discussion today.…we have restored the department's Civil Rights Division to its rightful place as the conscience of the nation and our country's preeminent civil rights law enforcement agency..." Holder also promised to make the prosecution of hate crimes a top priority.

In reality as reflected by the Justice Department's own data, the incidence of hate crimes against Muslims has been decreasing, yet the ADC persists in using alleged Muslim and Arab victimhood as justification for its legal strategy, based upon the questionable proposition that Arab American and Muslim citizens have much to fear from their government, which is according to the organization's interpretation, constantly acting in a discriminatory and harmful manner.

Holder - never one to let facts get in the way - went on to assert that "it was a Muslim-American man who first alerted the New York police to a smoking car in Times Square," despite evidence to the contrary, more proof - as if it was needed - that this administration will twist the truth to fit its political agenda.

Holder's speech to the ADC is another example of the administration's pandering to the Muslim and Arab community, a policy which if allowed to continue, threatens to seriously damage American national security.
