Obama Sellout Of Israel Continues - Nuke Stockpile Now In Jeopardy
May 6, 2009 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - In his brief term in office, President Obama has made no effort to disguise his contempt for Israel as a Jewish state and his desire to push Israel into the sea in a vain attempt to placate an implacable foe, the Muslim world.
Already, as noted in previous pieces [see, Obama/Hillary Visibly Tilting Towards Terrorist Fatah Over Israel, and U.S. - Israeli Relations Grow More Strained, IDF Official Shunned By Obama Administration] amateur Secty of State Hillary Clinton conducted a March press conference in the Hamas stronghold city of Ramallah with Mahmoud Abbas leader of Arafat's terrorist Fatah Party where she blasted Israel's "non-adherence," to the nonexistent "peace process" which her husband engineered, thus inserting the Obama administration into the central question of whether Muslim radicals will be allowed to determine the ultimate fate of Jerusalem. At the same time John Kerry, acting as a U.S. envoy, was playing kissy-face with Iranian backed Syrian puppet dictator Assad in full dhimmi mode.
In mid-March the already chilled relationship between Israel and the Obama administration turned even colder when Lt. General Gabi Ashkenazi, the Chief of the General Staff of the IDF was given the bum's rush in DC in a series of abruptly cancelled meetings, denying him access to senior administration officials at the cabinet level or above.
Ashkenazi came to Washington to counsel against the administration's new make-nice diplomatic campaign directed at Iran. He reportedly bore high level intelligence on Iran's rapidly progressing nuclear weapons program to bolster his argument.
Team Obama was having none of it though, as in quick succession administration decision makers made themselves scarce, parrying that they were only interested in discussing the - deservedly much criticized - "peace process," which is now in shambles as a result of the continuing Palestinian jihad.
This attitude has poisoned U.S. - Israeli relations and placed many liberal Jewish Democrats in a difficult position, making further support of this president exponentially more difficult.
With this in very recent hindsight we turn to a troubling report appearing today in the Washington Times, by Eli Lake [source, Secret U.S.-Israel nuclear accord in jeopardy, http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/may/06/us-weighs-forcing-israel-to-disclose-nukes/] which details how the Obama administration intends to compromise Israel's last-ditch security fail-safe mechanism, its nuclear stockpile, in an attempt to mollify Iran.
If things progress the way many national security observers foresee, the Obama plan will:
The issue will likely come to a head when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meets with Mr. Obama on May 18 in Washington. Mr. Netanyahu is expected to seek assurances from Mr. Obama that he will uphold the U.S. commitment and will not trade Israeli nuclear concessions for Iranian ones.
Assistant Secretary of State Rose Gottemoeller, speaking Tuesday at a U.N. meeting on the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), said Israel should join the treaty, which would require Israel to declare and relinquish its nuclear arsenal.
"Universal adherence to the NPT itself, including by India, Israel, Pakistan and North Korea, ... remains a fundamental objective of the United States," Ms. Gottemoeller told the meeting, according to Reuters.""threaten to expose and derail a 40-year-old secret U.S. agreement to shield Israel's nuclear weapons from international scrutiny, former and current U.S. and Israeli officials and nuclear specialists say.

At stake is Israel's ultimate ability to defend itself against the continuing Islamic jihad which is now gaining strength in Iran, Pakistan, Iraq and Afghanistan because of the new president's ideologically driven foreign policy bumbling. If Israel is forced to sign the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty [NPT] it will jettison its right to have nuclear weapons. It is estimated that the country now has in excess of 100 nuclear weapons and possibly as many as 200.
A dialed-in observer of this development has already sounded an ominous pronouncement, "Bruce Riedel, a former senior director for the Middle East and South Asia on the White House National Security Council, said, "If you're really serious about a deal with Iran, Israel has to come out of the closet. A policy based on fiction and double standards is bound to fail sooner or later. What's remarkable is that it's lasted so long." Mr. Riedel headed the Obama administration's review of strategy toward Afghanistan and Pakistan but does not hold a permanent administration position and has returned to private life as a scholar at the Brookings Institution. This topic is so sensitive to the Israelis that any serious disclosures about details of their nuclear program is regarded as treason.
It may all come to a showdown between Obama and Binyamin Netanyahu, with the new hard line Israeli leader coming to DC for talks on May 18. Knesset Member Yaakov Katz Accuses Rahm Emanuel And Obama Of Forcing Israel's Suicide
May 7, 2009 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - MK Yaakov Katz, Chairman of Israel's National Union party has refused accept the Obama team's bullying tactics re the moribund Middle East "peace process," and has charged Rahm Emanuel, Obie's Chief of Staff with making a veiled threat which directly endangers the security of the Jewish state.
"He is basically telling Israel to commit suicide in exchange for American consent to consider dealing with the Iranian threat to the world. What Emanuel is saying is that in order for the U.S. to agree to act against the nuclear program that threatens not only Israel, but entire other nations around the world, the price is that Israel should commit suicide - i.e., we must agree to a two-state solution that will see Hamas threatening us with its missiles not only from Gaza, as it is now, but from the very heart of Israel as well, in Judea and Samaria." Katz made the attack personal noting that, "this is the idea of a Jew, Rahm Emanuel - a Jew whose father fought in the Etzel (Irgun) against the British for the future of the State of Israel, but whose son, born in America, identifies with the most left-wing opinions, whose significance is the destruction of the State of Israel.
