MIM: The Council of American Islamic Relations -a Saudi funded front group for Hamas, met with FOX TV management in a bid to intimidate them into making concessions to' Muslim sensitivities' regarding the portrayal of Muslims as terrorists on the show 24. FOX officials said they would provide their stations and affiliates with CAIR ads (Islamic propagation spots) for them to air showing the kind of Muslim which CAIR would like the American public to see. According to news reports the CAIR ad campaign cost $3.7 million dollars - so any free air time they can get will help offset the cost to their Wahhabist funders. According to CAIR the ads were intended to provide Americans with " an accurate context " about Muslims . http://www.forf.org/news/2003/cairad.html
The spinmeisters at CAIR will have to whirl faster then derwishes on speed to convince anyone that their propaganda ads provide more of an "accurate context" then the terrorism charges being levelled against them in the 9/11 lawsuit and the investigations being conducted by the Senate committee, along with the jailing of 3 of it's employees for terrorism related offences :
"...A class action lawsuit in the name of John P. O'Neill, Sr., stemming from the 9/11 atrocity, has named the Council on American-Islamic Relations as a defendant..."
Three of CAIR's staff members, Ismail Royer,Ghasan Elashi, and Bassem Khafagi, have been convicted of mail fraud and terrorism charges: Another CAIR employee, Siraj Wahhaj, is an unindicted co conspirator in the 1993 WTC bombings. http://www.danielpipes.org/blog/32
"...CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper indicated in a 1993 interview with the Minneapolis Star Tribune that he wants the United States to become a Muslim country..." http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=32242
"...The Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Terrorism, Technology and Homeland Security held the second in a series of hearings aimed at examining Saudi Arabia's role in exporting Islamic extremism abroad. The hearing, titled "Two Years After 9/11: Connecting the Dots," was focused on the prevalence of the radical Wahhabi Islamic sect among Muslim political groups in the U.S. CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad and Chairman Omar Ahmed were invited to testify at the hearing, but both declined to attend. In their absence – and in front of their empty witness chair - the committee heard compelling evidence that Saudi Arabia financially and ideologically supports a network of American organizations that act as the defenders, financiers, and front groups of international terrorists. CAIR has been a major player in this network since its creation in 1994, with a particularly soft spot for the suicide-bombing death squads of Hamas ..."http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/Printable.asp?ID=9981

In the original article about Muslim protests against 24 published on Islamonline Rubert Murdoch was referred to as a "Jewish billionaire" the adjective 'Jewish' was deleted before CAIR went to talk to FOX tv executives. MIM saw this change and found a posting of the original IOL article.(see below)
It is perversely amusing to note that in the same Islamonline article which reiterates CAIR's complaints about Muslims being portrayed as terrorists as "dangerous and disturbing" FOX TV owner Rupert Murdoch is referred to as a 'Jewish billionaire' and Dr. Daniel Pipes is named as a 'Jewish writer'.

24 Stirs Muslim Anger
WASHINGTON, January 10 (IslamOnline.net) – The Fox network premiered on Sunday, January 10, the first episode of the action drama "24", which in its fourth season features "Muslim terrorists" plotting attacks inside the US.
It portrays a Walkman-toting, bubble-gum-chewing Muslim teenager fighting with his conservative father about dating an American girl and talking on the phone, in a disguised effort to conceal their true "terrorist" nature.
The young man is also seen helping his parents mastermind a plot to kill as many Americans by launching an attack on a commuter train.
On the breakfast table, the father tells his young son: "What we will accomplish today will change the world. We are fortunate that our family has been chosen to do this."
"Yes, father," the son replies.
The US secretary of state is also seen taken hostage by the "Muslim terrorists."
The drama climaxes with the defense secretary shown on an Internet video tape like those coming out of US-occupied Iraq.
The series, which earned an Emmy nomination for outstanding drama in each of its first three seasons, is named 24 because the action on the show occurs in "real-time."
Each season covers the events of one day in the life of agent Jack Bauer and his colleagues at the Counter Terrorist Unit in Los Angeles.
Every episode in a season covers the events of one hour in that day (hence 24 episodes per season).
The drama is produced by the Fox Broadcasting Company, a television network owned by Fox Entertainment Group, part of Jewish billionaire Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation.
News Corporation is one of the world's largest and most influential media corporations whose production of motion pictures and television programming are broadcast in 35 television networks in the US.
Murdoch is generally regarded as the most politically influential media proprietor in the world, and is regularly courted by politicians in the United States, Britain and Australia, according to the Wikipedia encyclopedia.

The Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) had on December 30, hit out at the new drama. ------------------------- MIM: Here is a link to the revised article on IOL in which the adjective "Jewish" was removed in reference to FOX's owner Rupert Murdoch. |

Dr.Daniel Pipes, who had written an article commending FOX for the decision to air 24 has this to say about FOX's deferring to CAIR's demands:
Fox Broadcasting Semi-Caves to CAIR The Fox Broadcasting Company's new season of the action drama, 24, tells about an Islamist gang engaged in major terrorism in the United States. One component of the enemy infrastructure is a middle-class Muslim family that moved from Iran four years earlier and is living as sleepers, preparing for the fateful day of violence. The Council on American-Islamic Relations protested this representation and I, in an article titled "Hollywood Discovers Radical Islam," lauded Fox for its courage to show the threat as it is, concluding with a wish: "hooray for Fox for portraying reality; and may it not cave to the Islamists."
Yesterday we learned that Fox has semi-caved. Yes, the program will go on as planned and apparently unchanged, but as recompense for the sin of pointing to Islamist enemies, Fox will, in Reuters' delicate phrasing, "provide its stations with TV spots that portray Muslims in a favourable way."
These spots are, in fact, none other than CAIR's self-serving public service announcements. (For another such CAIR ad, a print one, see "CAIR Promotes and Hosts William W. Baker, Neo-Nazi.") The Associated Press provides some details on them:
The PSAs were produced by the Council on American-Islamic Relations, with whom Fox representatives met Wednesday. The 30- and 60-second spots showcase a diverse group of individuals, who in turn share personal descriptions and identify themselves as American Muslims. Each PSA ends with the statement: "Muslims are part of the fabric of this great country and are working to build a better America." They were introduced by CAIR last summer as part of a nationwide public awareness campaign.
Fortunately, these public service announcements will not be aired nationally by Fox, nor are affiliate stations required to show them; the network is merely making spots available to local television stations without comment, and they then decide whether or not to use these.
Not content with this semi-cave, CAIR has spun the Fox concession to make it appear as greater than it was: WorldNetDaily.com's Art Moore exposes the "exaggerations" in its press release concerning changes in the storyline and showing the PSAs in proximity to 24. Fox spokesman Scott Grogin refused to comment on the former and explicitly denied the latter.
It will be interesting to see how many local affiliates actually do show the CAIR propaganda. I suspect few actually will, in which case the damage done is limited. The real problem is not the spots airing but Fox Broadcasting having recognized CAIR as a legitimate representative of American Muslims – making it yet another in a long list of important national institutions that have repeated this same mistake.
