Second terrorist attack in 8 days on Israeli town of Yitzhar thwarted

Another Attempted Arab Attack on Yitzhar; Terrorist Shot Dead

(IsraelNN.com) The Israel Defense Forces and Border Police successfully thwarted an attempt by an Arab terrorist to attack the Jewish community of Yitzhar in Samaria, and shot the terrorist dead. An IDF lookout identified the terrorist early Saturday morning as he made his way from the village of Asira al-Kabaliya toward the town.

A video released by the IDF shows the young terrorist carrying a firebomb. He seems to drop it at a certain point, causing it to catch fire. He was shot dead. Security forces found a knife on his body. The terrorist, Suheib Salah, 15, was the brother of Ahmed Salah, who carried out a shooting attack in Yitzhar in June of 2002, wounding four soldiers, two of them seriously, before he was killed.

The residents of Yitzhar issued a statement thanking the IDF and Border Police and congratulating them for the "determined, professional and quick action to eliminate the terrorist."

IDF Commander 'Lazy'?
"The attempt today by terrorists from Asira to penetrate the Shalhevet neighborhood in Yitzhar, for the second time in eight days, shows that the reaction by Yitzhar's residents last Shabbat was the right thing to do," the statement said. However, it noted, the incident "also shows that the IDF has not, in the course of the past week, taken sufficient preventive steps to eliminate or reduce the motivation of the terrorists in Asira, either by preventive detention, searches, targeted interrogations, distancing orders or administrative detention."

OC Central Command, Gadi Shamni, "knows very well how to use these draconian measures against the residents of Yitzhar but he is lazy about using them against murderous terrorists," the residents said.

The Samaria Residents Council demanded an apology from Prime Minister Ehud Olmert for what it called "the media pogrom" against Yitzhar. "It is time for the government to push for an eviction–compensation law for Arab marauders," the council statement read. %ad%

The Homesh First Headquarters called the terror attack "the Arab gift in return for the radical leftist groups' incitement a week ago." The radical Left and the terror groups have become two sides of the same coin, the Headquarters claimed; "One hand holds the fire bombs and the knives, and the other holds the microphone and incites against the Jewish victims."

Melave Malka in Yitzhar
Saturday evening a Melave Malka musical event was held in Yitzhar in gratitude to the Almighty for saving residents in the terrorist attacks.

The Shomron International Liaison Office has opened a special fund to help rebuild the home of the Ben Shlomo family in Yitzhar that was burned down in last week's terror attack. Those interested in helping can contact the office at [email protected].

Two Arabs were also nabbed by security forces Saturday evening in Dahariya, near Hevron, after they threw rocks at IDF and police forces that raided the Judean village. Several vehicles were damaged but no one was hurt.

In Gush Etzion, Arabs threw firebombs at Israeli-licensed vehicles near Migdal Oz. No one was hurt. A suspicious object was identified, however, and a Border Police bomb squad was alerted. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/127684

Arab Terrorist Stabs Boy in Yitzhar, Residents Attack Village

An Arab terrorist stabbed a nine-year-old Jewish boy at the Shalhevet neighborhood in Yitzhar in Samaria on the Sabbath, torched an empty house and tried to set fire to a second building. The terrorist threw the boy four meters down off of an outdoor porch, into an area filled with construction material - yet he landed on the only bush in the area. He was treated in a nearby hospital and was said to be in light condition.

Arabs threw rocks and stones at the Jews until IDF soldiers arrived, broke up the riots and slapped a curfew on the village. The troops arrested one suspect in the stabbing.

A relatively unknown terrorist group calling itself Ahrar Al-Jalil (Freedom for the Galilee) Brigades claimed responsibility for the arson and attack on the boy. The same group claimed it was behind two bulldozer and backhoe attacks in Jerusalem earlier this year in which three people were killed and several were wounded.

Other Attacks
Elsewhere in Judea and Samaria, Arab stone throwers hurled rocks at Jewish motorists in the eastern Gush Etzion town of Tekoa, hitting at least one tour bus and lightly injuring two passengers. Soldiers responded by shooting in the air, and said they were not aware of any injuries to the Arab attackers.

Later, Arabs claimed that the soldiers in the area shot and killed a 16-year-old youth who was among a group that attacked soldiers with stones. The IDF denied there was any such incident.

On Friday, soldiers shot in the air to disperse rioting Arabs in Hevron. The soldiers had arrested two Palestinian Authority (PA) policemen who broke an agreement not to enter the Jewish areas of Hevron.

In addition, soldiers also clashed with more than 100 Arab who rioted in the Arab village of Naalin, near the separation barrier, which sustained damage.

Arab Knesset Member Ahmed Tibi called the Jews from Yitzhar "two-legged animals," and MK Zahava Gal'on (Meretz) demanded th

at Defense Minister Ehud Barak take action against the "violent settlers who are rioting and hurting Palestinians."

The radical left-wing Peace Now group called on Public Security Minister Avi Dichter (Kadima) to take away the right to bear arms from the Yitzhar residents who opened fire.

However, Danny Dayan, leader of the Council of Jewish Communities in Judea and Samaria, accused the critics of "dancing on the blood" of the boy, whose attack was not condemned by the pro-Arab Jewish groups.
