Attack On Bombay Stock Exchange Broken Up By Indian Police

February 11, 2008 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Six men - all suspected members of the East Asian Islamic terrorist group, Lashkar e-Toiba - were arrested on Sunday in India's Uttar Pradesh province. They are being charged with planning to launch a terror attack on Bombay's Stock Exchange which is located in Mumbai.

During the sweep, security personnel confiscated AK47 battle rifles, ammunition and explosive devices including hand grenades.

It is believed that the six were also responsible for carrying out a 2007 attack against India's Central Reserve Police Force headquarters which killed 8.

About the arrests, government spokesman Vikram Singh said, "All except one were trained in Pakistan. This includes 21 days of training in Muzzafarabad, One month's intelligence training and training in explosives."
