CAIR Alleges Candidates Are "Running As Fast As They Can" Away From Muslims

January 18, 2008 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - The Council On American Islamic Relations [CAIR] the Saudi funded unindicted co-conspirator in the largest federal terror prosecution in history is claiming - sans evidence, via its ubiquitous newsletter - that GOP presidential candidates are, "falling over each other to demonize Muslims and Islam. They're trying to appeal to the power of prejudice and hate."

Such charges are an integral part in the stealth jihad being waged by Islamist groups including CAIR intended to cast legitimate critics of radical Islam as Islamophobes and bigots.

One component of that strategy is the groundless contention that there are seven million American Muslims, "the seven-million-strong American Muslim community," a figure which has been thoroughly debunked and proven to be a fabrication. The best estimate that we have of the number of American Muslims is 1.5-1.9 million, making disciples of Islam in the United States an inconsequential minority from an electoral perspective. As we wrote nearly one year ago [see, CAIR Overestimates Number Of American Muslims By 400%]

"Disputation of CAIR's agenda driven demographic claims is not new however

In an October 22, 2001 AP, Rachel Zoll wrote:

"The American Jewish Committee, concerned by the growing political influence of U.S. Muslims, released a report Monday saying commonly used estimates of the Muslim population in this country are too high, likely by millions. The study concludes that the best estimate of Muslims in the United States is 2.8 million at most, compared to the 6 million figure used by many researchers and Muslim organizations."

Dr. Daniel Pipes wrote on October 29, 2001 in the New York Post:

"The American Religious Identification Survey 2001 carried out by the Graduate Center of the City University of New York polled more than 50,000 people and found the total American Muslim population to be 1.8 million."

Though CAIR mouthpiece Ibrahim Hooper maintains that "It should be clear to any candidate that American Muslims are a key group of voters...that should be taken into account by all those running for public office," the truth is that the number of American Muslims is far less than claimed by the organization, with reasonable scholarship on the matter numbering the religious minority as barely reaching 1/2 of 1% of the total population.

In a larger sense CAIR's long history of fabrication and falsehoods on nearly all policy matters serves to provide further evidence that it is simply an agendized Islamist pressure group whose statistical butchery in this case underlines their basic disrespect for the American process in general and lack of veracity in most matters. http://www.pipelinenews.org/index.cfm?page=muslimvoter1.18.08%2Ehtm
