Iowa Muslim Recognition Day a celebration of dhimmitude

February 20, 2007

MIM: Muslim Recognition Day as Iowa state officials celebrate dhimmitude and da'wa at a yearly event much to the delight of the Islamists.

Muslim Recognition Day a Success!

Alhamdulillah, Muslim Recognition Day 2007 was a success. The Islamic Council of the MidWest would like to thank everyone who worked really hard to make this event successful. Jazakumallahu Khairan and May Allah give Jannatul Firdous to all of us, Amen

Alex Alavi, 13, wishes more of his young acquaintances would have gone to Muslim Recognition Day on Saturday in Des Moines.

If they did, they might better understand him and his religion.

"I like to see what my heritage was, and where I come from," he said, explaining why he and his uncle, Mohsen Alavi, were among the more than 300 people at the celebration.

The oldest surviving mosque in the country is in Cedar Rapids, and Iowa Muslims number about 10,000, according to Imam Ibrahim Dremali. But many of them still feel misunderstood at times.

Dremali said the day was to "celebrate, to teach people, and the whole purpose is to build bridges."

"I like to hear people who don't call Muslims outsiders, terrorists," said Mohsen Alavi. "Some people have been in this country longer than many Americans. I hope people took this to heart."

Muslim Recognition Day was first celebrated last year. It falls near Feb. 15, the anniversary of both the establishment of an Iowa Muslim organization by a few families in 1925, and when they built and opened their mosque in 1934.

The festivities, at a Principal Financial Group building, included remarks from notable Iowa leaders including Lt. Gov. Patty Judge, Principal's chief executive, Barry Griswell; Dr. Rizwan Shah and Imam Taha Tawil.

Students from the New Horizon Academy, a Muslim School, spoke and sang, food from various Islamic countries was served, and experts hosted workshops on topics ranging from the role of women and families in society to getting involved in politics.

Zahabiya Kapadia, 9, wrote and delivered a speech.

"Islam teaches us to respect our god, our parents and our neighbors," Zahabiya said. "Islam teaches us to respect everyone, not only certain people. God said, All mankind, we created you ... so you may know each other and not despise each other."

Judge summed up the day, challenging the group to continue the discussion and to work on raising awareness.

"The dialogue has to be ongoing, and that's my challenge to you," Judge said. "You are part of this state, a valuable part, making valuable contributions, and we appreciate you and your contributions very, very much."

Iowa becomes Umma: Politicians welcome radical Islamists - as Ibrahim Dremali wages da'wa Jihad from the Islamic Center of Des Moines

November 1, 2006

MIM: Iowa Muslims are waging political, and demographic Jihad aimed at transforming Iowa into the first state in the United States of Allah. Last year Governor Tom Vilsack was praised for is dhimmitude by radical Islamist Ibrahim Dremali , Imam of the Islamic Center of Des Moines, when he proclaimed 'Muslim Recognition Day' and Des Moines Mayor Cownie followed suit, making Iowa's transformation to the Umma official. For their part Muslims could not contain their glee at the blissful submission displayed by public officials and saw their public acknowledgement of Islam and regarded it as the first step before conversion.

"For the first time, members of four area mosques welcomed Iowans to "join in the making of history and get a taste of what it feels to be a Muslim."

Emboldened by sucess Iowa Muslims quickly announced their own mayoral candidate and Sol Mohammed wrote in the Iowa Muslim newsletter that:

In addition to the dhimmitude of local politicians Iowa Muslims have been exploiting taxpayer funding and state and federally funded institutions to promote their political, social and educational Jihad. An example of the degree to which Muslims are attempting to main stream Islamism in Iowa can be seen in the fact that The 1st conference of the Islamic Foundation of Iowa did not take place in a mosque, but was held at at the taxpayer funded Central Middle School in Waterloo Iowa, despite having being a religious gathering with unmistakeably Islamo supremacist agenda : "The practical structure of building an Islamic society -Come to know the future visions and plans for Muslims in Iowa." (see newsletter below)

The use of a public school premises for such a Muslims only event does not violate Iowa laws regarding the separation of church and state, and is being exploited by Islamists who are able but (The conference included 'adult and children's lectures in english and Bosnian and a sleepover )

The way the Muslims obtained the premises is another example the radical Islamist strategy at work which Dr. Daniel Pipes refers to as 'stealth Islamists' whose strategy is to get Muslims into positions in public and political life who can promote and Islamist agenda and undermine the system from within. This type of 'cultural Jihad' can prove more effective in destroying America through the physical Jihad of terrorist attacks. As Muslim Brotherhood founder Sheik Yusuf Qaradawi pointed out in 1995: 'America will not be conquered by the sword - but by da'wa'.

Al Qawadawi 's prediction is coming to fruition in Iowa. A case in point is the recent formation of a Ceder Rapids branch of the Muslim American Society, a group whose plans for America are in it's name. The group made their announcement at a library and the Mayor, Kay Halloran, welcomed the Al Qaeda linked group with open arms:

"I want everyone to know how happy I am this
organization has chosen Cedar Rapids as its home," she
said during the ceremony. "We are honored and delighted
to have you with us."

For their part the MAS director made it clear that Iowa was on the fast track to becoming part of the Umma and the first state in their goal of a Muslim American Society:

It's a perfect time to introduce the Muslim American
Society to the state of Iowa," said Cedar Rapids resident
Mohamad Elmasry, executive director and director of media
relations for the new chapter. "We hope that our
comprehensive services will be assets to Iowa's Muslim
community and the Iowa community at large."

http://www.masnet.org/masnews.asp?id=3248

MIM:In Iowa Saudi funded groups like MAS which register as non profits, need only pay a nominal custodial fee in order to use public premises like schools, universities and libraries. This is a great boom for da'wa since these venues will enable them to attract non Muslims, who are already using the facilities and will be lured to a lecture about Islam under the pretence of broadening their 'cultural awareness'.

It is no coincidence that the former president of the Islamic Center of Des Moines, Ako Ahmed Abdul Samad is a member of tthe Des Moines school board and is trying to move from a a civil service post to infiltrate the state government by running for state representative in order to push an Islamist agenda and gain more ground for Muslims both by pushing for Muslim interests and propagating Islam under the guise of multi culturalism and diversity. (see below)

In 1995 Dr. Daniel Pipes explained the threat posed by militant Islam "Unnoticed by most Westerners, war has been unilaterally declared on Europe and the United States". More then a decade later the template for Jihad being waged in the U.S. can be seen in the case Iowa, where radical Islamists are in the process of turning one America's heartland into the first Islamic state. Since arriving in Iowa in 2004 Former Boca Raton Imam Ibrahim Dremali has opened an Islamic New Horizons School with the funding from the Wahhabist Islamic Society of North America and is teaching an Islam 101 course at Drake University. Dremali has even broadcast his proclivity for martydom on Iowa television, when asked about the Danish cartoons during an interview the keffiyah clad cleric replied:

"Prophet Mohammed, praise be unto him, to us, he's more valuable than even our own lives, own kids. God is No. 1 and then Mohammed. When they attack him, they attack the whole of Muslim -- 1.9 billion Muslims," Dremali said.
http://www.kcci.com/news/6792139/detail.html

MIM:In an article about Muslim Recognition Day Dremali , who adheres to the Islamist creed of lying to infidels whenever opportune, went from bellicose to bucolic, oozing unctuousness when he spoke of Muslim reaction to the Danish cartoons and made nary a mention of Muslims being obligated to fight to the death for their prophet's honor.

"Muslims in Iowa and the United States would just handle it in a peaceful way," said Ibrahim Dremali, imam for the Des Moines Islamic Center, 6211 Franklin Ave. "Muslims in Iowa are more interested in teaching people about Islam. Perhaps we are wiser when it comes to such things." (Des Moines Register) "

A Jihad through da'wa (Islamic propagation) event was held at Iowa State University. Organised by Islamic Center of Des Moines Imam Ibrahim Dremali . A report of the conference in the University paper was headlined "Convention celebrates, educates Iowa Muslims" explained that:

"Iowa was selected as the location for the Da'wah convention because the very first Muslims in the United States settled in Cedar Rapids, where they built the first mosque which is a Muslim center of worship.

The conference was intended to "celebrate the legacy of the first Muslims in the United States"

MIM: The organisers lamented that not many ISU non Muslim students as potential converts were in attendance and claimed it was due to 'lack of information'. The conference was also geared to non Muslims, courses included Islam 101, The Birthright Ignored, The Purpose of Existence, and the sure fire crowd pleaser Muhammed's Beloved Ones- Are You One?

MIM: Below is a 2005 newsletter from the Islamic Center of Des Moines. Note that many of their Islamist events are taking place on the premises of state and federally funded institutions such as public schools and universities. Iowa Muslims are also attempting to control the state politically and two Islamic Center members are running for public office. T O T HE F UTURE As Salaam Alaikum my broth- ers and sisters, Since I have served on the Des Moines Public School Board since 2003, I have been faced with making tough deci- sions for our community. The challenge is not simply deciding what schools must be closed in order to accommodate the school district's deficit, but the challenge is to work together to come up with solutions in order to properly fund our school system.

This verse is in Surat Al-Isra and focuses on the bodily movement of the Prophet (SAWS) from the Haram Shareef to the Al-Aqsa and to the Heavens – a journey which took place at night. After the glorification, Allah (SWAT) emphasized two points; physical movement of His servant and the journey by night. This statement nullifies any assumption of a vision or dream. (Cont on p. 2) Recognizing the bounties Al- lah has bestowed upon His slaves.

These bounties cannot be counted or enumerated. [Allah says:] "If you count the blessings of Allah, never will you be able to count them." [Quran 14:34]. Hearts naturally have love for those who do good to them. Love for a blessing is from the general aspects of thanking the one who has bestowed a bounty. It is said that thanks is with the heart, tongue and limbs. (Cont on p. 3)

(Continued from cover page) Brother Mohamed Khan This particular incident occurred in the month of Rajab (27 th night according to most Scholars) on the 11 t h y ear of t h e Prophethood of Mohammad (SAWS). This was two years before the Hijrah to Me- dina. The Prophet (SAWS) was taken from the Kaaba to the Masjid Al-Aqsa and was as- cended to the Upper Heaven and returned all in one night.

This is where He will form His foundation, His Ummah (the Ansars and the Majaheer). In Surat-Al-Isra, Allah (SWT) re-affirmed the Commandments, which were given to Bani Israel, challenging the Muslims to follow the right path and to not be led astray (see Surah Al-Isra 23-37). The Quranic Language however, is much stronger and more stern than the Bible. One of the great causes [that leads to having love of Allah] Is the specific knowledge that comes about through pondering Names and exalted Attributes. Whenever one's knowledge of Allah is strengthened, one's love for Him is also strengthened and one's love for obeying Him is also strengthened. He will then experience the pleasure of worship, whether it be in prayer, remembrance or other forms of worship. 4: Another cause that will bring about love for Al- lah is to act towards Al- lah with sincerity and purity while going against one's desires. This is a cause for Allah to bless a slave and when He blesses the slave, the slave loves Him. 5: One of the greatest causes that bring about one's love for Allah is increasing one's re- membrance of Allah. Whenever a person loves something, he re- members it more often. And it is through the remembrance of Allah that the hearts find tranquility. In fact, one of the signs of having love for Allah is the constant remem- brance of Allah by one's heart and tongue. 6: One of the causes that brings about Allah's love for His slave is reciting the Qur'an often and pon- dering over its meaning, in particu- lar those verses that contain Allah's Names, Attributes and Actions. Having fondness for that action will lead the slave to love Allah and Allah to love Him. 7: Another of the causes of love for Allah is remembering what has been mentioned in the Qur'an and Sunnah concerning the believers seeing their Lord in the Hereafter and visiting them and gathering together on the Day of Abundance.

From the Des Moines Register:

Creative Visions, a nonprofit social services agency led by Ako Abdul-Samad, has been unable to produce files for nearly half of the people that agency workers said they helped over the past two years, city audits show...

...In addition, a former Creative Visions employee is alleging to Des Moines officials that some of the client files given to the city in past years were either false or the information in them was exaggerated. The former employee, whose identity was withheld under the city's whistle-blower policy, said Abdul-Samad knew about the alleged fabrications.

The whistle-blower made the same allegations to the Register late last week. The person asked for anonymity, citing fears for family safety...

...City records and interviews revealed that city employee Caroline Gathright was unable to contact any of the 24 Creative Visions clients that the city selected during the two audits. Gathright, who conducted the audit, said the city takes a random sample of at least 10 clients in each audit to verify that the clients exist.

On Monday, Gathright asked to change her comments to the Register. She said she was able to talk with four of the 24 clients. The change came less than two hours after the Register interviewed Abdul-Samad. Gathright said she had not talked with Abdul-Samad, even though he told the Register that he planned to contact Gathright when the interview was done.

Not good.

Looks like Ako Abdul-Samad will eventually be going to prison rather than the Iowa Legislature in Ed Fallon's old seat, or at least I hope Ako Abdul-Samad will be going to prison. That's where he belongs.

http://state29.blogspot.com/2006/08/ako-abdul-samad-has-history-of.html

Mainstream Iowan has more recent background on Ako Abdul-Samad.

It seems that Mr Abdul-Samad has a history of violating campaign disclosure laws and missing deadlines when it comes to paperwork.

I can't get over the fact that Abdul-Samad's "non-profit social service agency" was taking taxpayer money from a State agency of which he was a member of the Board of Directors. That's allowed?

Update: Abdul-Samad responds in the Des Moines Register:

"I'm still going for the House," he said. "Even with the CIETC scandal, even with individuals printing lies, I took 54 percent. I think this had made me a better candidate than ever before. I know what I have to do, and I know my responsibilities."

Abdul-Samad said he considers Cason's allegations "a direct attack on my character" and said he will set facts straight but refuses to get into a "smear campaign."

That's the typical attitude of an arrogant bottom feeder caught in a scandal.

Second Update: Tusk and Talon have more thoughts:

What the hell is going on here? What was so important that Ako would starve his own rather modest charity in favor of CIETC? Something does not add up...

...Here are some of the conclusions that might be drawn, not all are mutual exclusive nor are all necessarily true. However, given the massive mismanagement involved at all levels, as a political matter the burden falls on Mr. Samad to prove his worth as a candidate:

1. Ako is an incredibly bad manager of his own charity and CIETC. If he was ignorant of some $180,000 owed to his own charity he should be removed by his own board. As a board member of CIETC, he should have been aware that they were not complying with the terms of their own state contracts.

2. Ako has something much bigger, better, or badder to hide that is worth foregoing 180 large. Such something, if it exists, may not be an illegal transaction but it must certainly not look good or he'd be shouting it from the rooftops.

All I can say is: keep digging, Clark Kauffman. We haven't hit the bottom of this scandal yet.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA -
Calling for a better understanding of their
culture, organizers officially opened the newest chapter of the
Muslim American Society Sunday afternoon at the Cedar
Rapids Public Library. "It's a perfect time to introduce the Muslim American
Society to the state of Iowa," said Cedar Rapids resident
Mohamad Elmasry, executive director and director of media
relations for the new chapter. "We hope that our
comprehensive services will be assets to Iowa's Muslim
community and the Iowa community at large."
Founded in 1992, the Muslim American Society has 60
chapters in 35 states. Elmasry said some of the Muslim American Society's
objectives are to promote an understanding between Muslims
and non-Muslims, to encourage a virtuous and moral
society, to offer alternatives to many of society's
prevailing problems, and to promote human values and
family values. Cedar Rapids Mayor Kay Halloran spoke at the ceremony
to welcome the organization to Cedar Rapids. "I want everyone to know how happy I am this
organization has chosen Cedar Rapids as its home," she
said during the ceremony. "We are honored and delighted
to have you with us."
Souheil Ghannouchi of Washington, D.C., executive
director of the national group, said even though the
Muslim community is expanding, it is being challenged by
society because of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. "We understand it's partly our fault because we didn't
reach out before," Ghannouchi said. "We have been a very

isolated community so the majority of people don't know
us. When they know more about us, they'll hopefully know
that the wrong information about us has been
circulating." Ghannouchi said he hopes the organization will help the
Muslim community reach out and create friendships
throughout the Cedar Rapids area. Imam Mahdi Bray of Washington, D.C., executive director
of the organization's Freedom Foundation, spoke at the
ceremony about the group's responsibilities to the
community. "We want to join the city to help prevent youth
problems such as drug addictions and teen pregnancy," he
said. "We have a responsibility of providing subsidy for
people who have fallen from their safety net."
