MIM:

The Council on American Islamic Relations has a history of making hoax bias claims. One 2004 claim of particular note because the press release which CAIR issued was headlined "Muslims React to a Possible Profiling Case" and showed how CAIR was able to manipulate the the media into turning a non event into a case Muslim victimhood, and an accusation of terrorist threat made by a Muslim to a clerk with a Jewish sounding last name into a case of anti Muslim discrimination.

Altaf Ali, the director of the Florida CAIR was spinning faster then a derwish on speed in an effort to show that Tasir Okashah, a Muslim who was alleged to have threatened to blow up a Best Buy electronics store, had really opined to the clerk that "these rebates are a big lie".

The ink was barely dry on the clerk's police complaint when Florida CAIR director Altaf Ali called a press conference and issued a press release which was atonishingly headlined "Muslims React to Possible Profiling Case".

CAIR proceeded to use the free media coverage, generated by a non occurence,to turn the accusation of a terroristic threat filed by a store clerk, into a case of "possible" anti Muslim discrimination stating that:

"We believe this is simply an misunderstanding between the clerk and the accused".

Ali went on to imply that Tasir Okashah had simply been expressing scepticism when according to the clerk he told him that :"I am going to come back and blow this place up if I don't get my money this time" adding ..."these rebates are a big lie".

In an amusing twist ,Tasir Okashah, the 'alleged' Best Buy irate customer / bomber, and poster boy for Muslim victimhood was jailed on immigration charges. His illegal immigrant status came to light presumably as a result of a random check run on him in the wake of the filing of the clerk's complaint but did not deter CAIR from describing Okashah who was officially accused of "threatening to detonate an explosive" as being " a very humble member of the Muslim community".

A Miami Beach man, arrested this week on charges he threatened to blow up an electronics store, was the victim either of a misguided investigation or a misunderstanding, an advocacy group said Friday.

Plantation police, however, said the arrest was made only after a complete investigation, and the Broward County State Attorney's Office said it was reviewing the case before filing formal charges, as is common.

The arrest Tuesday of Taiser Okashah, 43, after a June 3 exchange that was reported to the police on June 5, was troubling, said Altaf Ali, executive director of the Florida office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

"The community is very concerned that a very humble member of the community, for asking a question about a rebate, can be put in jail," Ali said during a news conference. Okashah, a Muslim, was being held without bond at Broward County Jail. He was charged by Plantation police with threatening to detonate an explosive.

According to Ali, an arrest affidavit and a police report, the incident began at 7:30 p.m. June 3, when Okashah went to the Best Buy store at 12301 W. Sunrise Blvd. and encountered sales representative Alejaundro Schnakofsky. After discussing the purchase of a laptop computer, Okashah questioned whether he would get the rebate.

Schnakofsky said in a sworn statement that Okashah said, "I am going to come back and blow up this place if I do not get my money this time."

But Okashah never introduced the idea of a bomb, according to Ali. "All he said was, `These rebates are a big lie,' and it appears the clerk misunderstood that statement," Ali said.

MIM: The headline of the CAIR press release was a classic case of "no there - there" and a template for their propagation of hoax hate crime claims.

- NEWS CONFERENCE ADVISORY- FL MUSLIMS REACT TO POSSIBLE PROFILING CASE

Miami Muslim held after questioning rebate policy at Best Buy (MIAMI, FL, 7/2/2004) -

The Florida office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-FL) will hold a news conference today outside a Plantation Best Buy store to call for an investigation into what the group says may be a case of anti-Muslim profiling.

WHAT: CAIR News Conference WHERE: Outside the Best Buy, 12301 W. Sunrise Blvd, Plantation, Fla. WHEN: Friday, July 2, 3 p.m.

According to police reports obtained by CAIR-FL, a Muslim shopper was arrested on June 30 for allegedly making threats while purchasing an item at the store on June 3, 2004. The man denies making any threats and says he only questioned the store clerk about the authenticity of a rebate coupon. Videotapes from store surveillance cameras show the Muslim customer in conversation with the clerk

. 'We need to know why the police report was apparently based on hearsay information, why the arrest took place almost a month after the incident, why no charges have been filed, why immigration authorities allegedly have a hold on a legal permanent resident, why store employees allegedly questioned the customer about his national origin, and why bond was denied,' said CAIR-FL Executive Director Altaf Ali.

Ali raised the possibility that the arrest stemmed from language barriers and over-reactions by store employees and law enforcement officials.

CAIR, America's largest Islamic civil liberties group, is headquartered in Washington, D.C., and has 28 regional offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada. - END -

MIM: Note that the CAIR spin on the story is that a poor innocent Muslim was held for "questioning a rebate policy" not because they made bomb threats " The PR also neglects to mention that the Muslim is not be

The short CAIR press release is a case study into the MO of the groups intimidation methods via the media.

Not one sentence contains any substantiated claims and the key words are possible and alleged.

CAIR is making a case where there is none to begin with for the purposes of publicity and as a warning to infidels who might consider exercising their civil rights against aggressive Muslims.

*The PR is headed ...Muslims react to a "possible profiling case".

*The group is "calling for an investigation into what "may be a case of Muslim profiling".

*A Muslim shopper was arrested for "allegedly making threats "

*"The police report was aparently based on heresay information "

*"Immigration officials allegedly have a hold of someone who is a permanent legal resident"

We need to know why store employees "allegedly questioned the Muslim on his national origin"

The press release parrots Ali's 'con'clusion that "the arrest was simply a matter of language barriers and overreaction on the part of store employees and law enforcement officials."

In CAIR's vision of a' United States of Allah', the Best Buy employees and law enforcement should soon all be speaking Arabic so they won't " overeact " when bomb threats are made by Muslims in Arab accented english .

CAIR Fuhrer 'Adolf' Ali will not doubt press for the Best Buy staff to be forced to undergo "diversity training" aka Da'wa and that law enforcement be given sensitivity courses in how not to offend bomber wannabes who are acting in the name of Allah and practicing the "peaceful religion of Islam".

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ali disingenuously states that it took more then a month for the arrest.

The article above cites law enforcement remarking on the fact that it took two days to file a complaint.

If indeed the arrest came a month after the report then the case has nothing to do with the Best Buy incident and everything to do with Okashah's illegal alien status.

Ali perfidiously states in the PR that the immigration authorities have a hold on "an allegedly illegal resident "

CAIR's Islamist weltaanshaung holds that the entire world is the domain of Allah, therefore it follows that there can be no such thing as a Muslim who is an "illegal resident" as "alleged" by the infidels of the INS.

Note that 'Adolf' Ali defended a disgruntled Muslim customer who made bomb threats in person to a store clerk, calling him " a humble member of the community" .

Even more brazenly, Altaf Ali decried Okashah's detention despite the fact that he committed an immigration violation for overstaying his visa.

Contrast this with the case with that of Dale Ehrgott, who wrote an email to CAIR which allegedly warned: "You have taught us much about terrorism so get ready to be the receiver", (see article below).

Ehrgott said that "it wasn't a threat, just a nasty email", adding that he "meant no harm".

CAIR's propaganda machine went into full gear and convinced the State Attorney, Daniel Ogden, to obtain a grand jury indictment against Ehrgott. The US government is having CAIR director Nihad Awad and chairman Ibrahim Hooper testify for the prosecution.

In September 2003, Awad and CAIR refused to testify before a Senate Hearing called "9/11 Connecting the dots" which exposed CAIR's links to Hamas and suicide bombings.

If the Ehrgott case goes to court in Nevada , CAIR's ties to terror will be exposed and put on record .

This time CAIR won't be able to "plead the 5th ".
