Rerrest of Hofstad leader Samir Azzouz thwarted attack - trial of group scheduled for December

MIM: Samir Azzouz had been arrested twice and released, and was arrested two weeks ago together with 6 others whom Dutch officials feared were planning attacks on politicians and government buildings. A Dutch television program, NOVA, which had gotten hold of the criminal file revealed this news and also broadcast a copy of the testament. According to an article in the Volkskrant: "..With the arrest of Samir Azzouz and other leaders of the Hofstad group a possible terrorist attack on an El AL plane was thwarted. In his testament Samir Azzouz also had a message for the Dutch people: "We want to spill your blood here ". The attack on the plane was reported on the television program NOVA who had managed to obtain a copy of the criminal file .The Friday broadcast of the show presented the text of the last will and testament of Samir Azzouz..." Netherlands security forces have arrested seven terrorists, five of whom tried to buy explosives to shoot down an El Al passenger plane at the Amsterdam airport, Dutch television reported Friday. |
The suspects, ranging in age from 19 to 30, were arrested on October 14 for plotting attacks against Dutch politicians and government buildings, according to Reuters News Agency. One of those arrested, 19-year-old Samir Azzouz, once was charged with planning to attack a nuclear facility and government buildings in the Netherlands.
